So, I’ve thought long and hard about my predicament. You see, I’ve found myself very disillusioned with Midnightvault.net for ages. I get very upset at the low numbers of people who would read and share what I write, especially since I had finished 106 reviews. 106! Yet, still only 1 or 2 people looking at my posts. So I wondered, what could it be? Am I crap at writing? Do people not care? Is all my work just going to waste? Am I just banging my head against a brick wall by working on this blog, hoping something would happen eventually?
Well, as the old saying goes: Insanity is the process of doing something over and over again, expecting something to change.
So, as you can probably see, my website’s had a complete overhaul. For it is no longer Midnightvault.net, it is now extremecinema.org. I will no longer review cult and exploitation cinema, but I’m dedicating my writing to extreme cinema from all walks of life; including it’s culture, history, and historical relevances.
Because extreme cinema has been a big part of cinema since the very beginning. Salvador Dali broke the mould with arguably the first ever extreme film: Un Chien Andalou. Hell, even the very first feature film – Dante’s Inferno – could be described as an extreme movie for its time. Extreme movies provoke, they push the envelope further than the envelope’s even been pushed before, they carry very intelligent reflections of society and history presented in an easily digestible, shocking manner.
And so, I bid you welcome to extremecinema.org, a blog where I review as much extreme cinema as I can. From the early 1900 classics, to the more recent shockers of present day. It’s not gonna be a smooth ride, but I guarantee that it’s gonna be interesting…and possibly even fun.
Many of my returning followers may see that a lot of my reviews have disappeared…don’t worry. They’re getting re-done or re-uploaded when the time comes. I’m keeping to my strict series schedule and any incomplete series are being re-done because I want to start afresh.
These are the major changes, but look around, see what I’m all about because not much has changed at heart. Although, I will say that after this complete overhaul, I will be taking a week or two away from the blog off to focus on other things. To recharge my batteries and have me coming back stronger than ever when I return.
So I say to you:
Enjoy my blog
Share it around
And I’ll see you in a couple of weeks…where I think I might start my new found extreme identity with the legendary Evil Dead movies by the legendary Sam Raimi. Do they still stand up as good today as they did back in the 70s and 80s?
